Kabob Plus

**Update 4/27/15 Kabob Plus is closed. There are signs that another Indian/Pakistani restaurant is set to open at this site, but no date**

We get the money mailer coupons and nine times out of ten there isn't any coupon worth saving. A few days ago I was going through it and came across an advertisement for Kabob Plus (formerly Parsa Kabob). It is located near the Costco shopping center, off of 108. It is in the same strip mall as the 7-11 if you are familiar with that area. The employee at the counter said that they have been here for maybe 6 years but just started offering the buffet only a couple of months ago. I was kind of confused because Parsa Kabob's website has the same address listed as Kabob Plus and someone commented as recent as 2011 on HowChow referring to the restaurant as Parsa Kabob. Hmm...

The ad was for their buffet (brunch, lunch, and dinner). I was intrigued because I have never heard of a Mediterranean/Kabob place serving brunch, lunch, AND dinner buffet. I suggested to the Mr. that we try this place out soon. I love buffets because I always have a taste for a little bit of everything. It turned out that we had to go to Loews for grass seed and we were both hungry after so we decided to check it out.

When we walked in, I was a little taken back at how small it was inside. The menu up on the wall was for Mediterranean food (Kabob, Gyros, Pita, Feta, etc.). I thought that the buffet would be just that, I wasn't expecting Indian food. There were two buffet tables and about 10 tables with seating inside. Before we committed to eating here, we asked if we could check out the selections. I was pleasantly surprised and so was the husband. It was predominately Indian food with some Mediterranean (pretty much just Greek salad and the fixins), but that was ok with us. There were at least 12 different Indian dishes ranging from butter chicken, to saag, to goat curry. On the other buffet table, there were some desserts and salad. I tried something with vermicelli and my husband tried the mango pudding which was tasty.

There was a family of about 6 eating when we arrived and shortly after two more couples came in. I felt like this was a good sign considering it was 6:30 on a Sunday night. While we were eating, I overheard another couple share the same thoughts we had- this place was surprisingly very good! Look past the interior and having to use paper plates, plastic utensils, styrofoam cups. It isn't about that. It's about the food and it was very very good.

I'm interested in seeing what they offer for brunch... Has anyone been?

I grabbed a menu on the way out and it appears they offer not only Mediterranean and Indian fare, but also "Indo Pak Chinese" as they call it. Looks like HoCo has yet another decent Indian buffet option!

  1. The new place Spice n Curry that replaced Kabob Plus is now open. They said yesterday that they opened about 4 weeks ago. Their website is http://spicencurrymd.com/

  2. Thanks @Anonymous! I have been meaning to blog about this place. My husband and I actually ate there a few days after they opened. Did you try anything, how did you like it?
